Commissioners Hire Interim County Manager

At the Caswell County Board of Commissioner’ meeting on Monday, September 23, 2024, the Board voted to hire Renee Paschal as the interim county manager, effective September 30, 2024.  The commissioners met in closed session and approved the action unanimously in open session. 


Paschal has over 35 years of local government experience in rapidly growing communities. She retired in 2018 as the Chatham County manager. During her 25-year tenure with Chatham County, she worked with her team to achieve a AAA bond rating from S&P Global, secure two megasites for economic development, and complete many capital projects.


Since her retirement, she has served as interim county manager for Cumberland County, Budget Director for Harnett County, and Project Manager for COVID relief funds in Wake County. Her service prior to retirement includes Chatham County assistant county manager, Town of Elon town clerk and planner, and City of Burlington assistant public information officer.   


“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Renee Paschal as the interim county manager. Her extensive experience in local government will provide steady leadership during this transition.” said Chairman Jeremiah Jefferies.


Renee holds an MPA in Public Administration and a degree in Political Science form UNC-Chapel Hill.   She has completed the Municipal Administration program, Budgeting and Financial Planning course, Group Facilitation and Consultation course, and Public Executive Leadership Academy through UNC’s School of Government. Renee’s budget expertise has been recognized statewide through speaking engagements.


“I am honored to step into the role of interim County Manager and serve the citizens of Caswell County.  My goal during this transitional period is to ensure the county’s services and operations are running smoothly while maintaining a high level of transparency and collaboration. I look forward to working closely with the Board of Commissioners and county staff in building financial stability within the organization,” said Paschal.


Renee and her husband live in Moncure, NC.  She is very active in her community and serves on multiple boards and committees.
