Services County Wide...To The Entire Community

Our Goal

Caswell County Area Transportation System (CATS) was established on September 11, 2000 to consolidate transportation services from various local organizations  and county departments. CATS is more cost effective and fuel efficient than having various county  departments managing their own transportation services.

CATS’ goal is to provide safe, clean and affordable transportation to the citizens of Caswell County. Transportation is provided at reasonable rates as long as  state funds are available. CATS provides local and out of county transportation to the citizens of Caswell County. We  provide transportation to anyone in Caswell County.

CATS is a drug and alcohol-free workplace. If you are interested  in finding out more information or scheduling a ride please contact us at (336) 694-1424 or TDD/TTY users dial 1-800-735-2962. Come join our community transportation system! We provide demand response services.

Civil Rights Protections

Caswell County Area Transportation System is committed to operating transportation programs and services without regard to disability, race, color, age, sex, religion or national origin, in accordance with applicable federal statutes:

  • Title II of the American with Disabilities Act

  • Title VI of the Civil Rights Act

Located on the left side of the website you will see the Public/Notice/Policy Statement & Complaint Process.

ADA Complaints

The transportation provisions of title II cover public transportation services, such as city buses and public rail transit (e.g. subways, commuter rails, Amtrak). Public transportation authorities may not discriminate against people with disabilities in the provision of their services. They must comply with requirements for accessibility in newly purchased vehicles, make good faith efforts to purchase or lease accessible used buses, remanufacture buses in an accessible manner, and, unless it would result in an undue burden, provide paratransit where they operate fixed-route bus or rail systems. Paratransit is a service where individuals who are unable to use the regular transit system independently (because of a physical or mental impairment) are picked up and dropped off at their destinations. Questions and complaints about public transportation should be directed to:

Office of Civil Rights Federal Transit Administration U.S. Department of Transportation 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE Washington, D.C. 20590 (888) 446-4511 (voice/relay) www.fta.dot.gov/ada

For more information on Title II ADA obligations go to https://www.ada.gov/resources/disability-rights-guide

Located below under forms & information you will see Complaint Process.

Reasonable Modification of Policies and Procedures

Individuals with disabilities may ask CATS to modify a policy or procedure if they feel the policy or procedure is discriminatory or prevents them from fully utilizing CATS' services.  CATS will review these requests and will modify policies unless it finds that:

  • The person can fully utilize the service without the requested modification (i.e., it is for convenience only).

  • The change would create a direct threat to the safety of others.

  • The change would fundamentally alter the nature of the service.

  • The change would cause an undue financial or administration burden.

CATS encourages people to request such modifications in advance when possible.  To request a modification of a policy or procedure in advance, complete the Request for Modification of Policy/Procedure Form located on the left side of the website or by calling (336) 694-1424 and TTY 1-800-735-2962.

CATS will be guided by examples in Appendix E of 49 CFR Part 37 when making decisions on requests for modifications of policies.

If CATS denies a requests, it will consider other reasonable actions or approaches that might be able to meet the person's needs.

CATS has designated its Director to coordinate the acceptance and review of requests for reasonable modifications of policies.  This policy will be communicated to the public on the CAT'S website and in the brochure.
