DETAILS & FORMS
Our Goal
Welcome to the official website for the Caswell County Board of Elections. Our office is committed to maintaining current and accurate voter files, maximizing voter registration and voter turnout efforts, educating the voting public, providing the best possible services and conducting efficient, fair, honest and impartial elections at a reasonable cost to the electorate.
What We Do
The Caswell County Board of Elections is responsible for conducting all elections held in Caswell County and locally administering State election laws. Our principal functions include:

-
Establishing election precincts and voting sites
-
Appointing and training precinct officials
-
Preparing and distributing ballots and voting equipment
-
Canvassing and certifying the ballots cast in elections
-
Investigating any voting irregularities.
We maintain voter registration for Caswell County and provide public information on voters and elections. A major focus of the Elections Office is to maintain accuracy and security of both voter registration information and the voting process, including ensuring that each voter’s records reflect that voter’s correct precinct and ensuring that those who choose to vote have not been deterred or denied in any way.
How We Are Organized
Each County in North Carolina has a Board of Elections. It is a five person board which is appointed every two years by the State Board of Elections. G.S.163-30, as re-recodified by this act, reads as rewritten:"§ 163-30. County boards of elections; appointments; terms of office:
“In every county of the State there shall be a county board of elections, to consist of five persons of good moral character who are registered voters in the county in which they are to act. Members of county boards of elections shall be appointed by the State Board of Elections on the last Tuesday in June, and every two years thereafter, and their terms of office shall continue for two years from the specified date of appointment and until their successors are appointed and qualified. Four members of county boards of elections shall be appointed by the State Board on the last Tuesday in June and every two years thereafter, and their terms of office shall continue for two years from the specified date of appointment and until their successors are appointed and qualified. One member of the county boards of elections shall be appointed by the Governor to be the chair of the county board on the last Tuesday in June and every two years thereafter, and that member's term of office shall continue for two years from the specified date of appointment and until a successor is appointed and qualified.Of the appointments by the State Board, not more than two members of the county board of elections shall belong to the same political party.”
The local political parties will submit three names to the State political party chairman. Once appointed, County Board members take an oath and begin their two year terms on the Tuesday following the third Monday in July in odd-numbered years. The Board oversees the functions of our office and hires a Director to administer all duties.
